How do I choose the subjects that I want to study?

Before applying to College find out as much information as you can about our courses. Read through our course pages, listen to our videos from teachers and students, attend an Open Event and get a feel for the College and meet the students and teachers.

To find the list of all our courses at Cirencester College (please click here)

Each course information page provides you with a careers information tool called ‘Pathways’. Use this to find out what career prospects are available in your chosen subject, the kind of salary you can expect to earn and interviews with people in those professions.

If you find it difficult to choose the right courses for you and you have no idea what you want to do in the future. Don’t worry you are not alone, think about the subjects that you enjoy at school, look at the subjects that you have not been able to experience at school but inspire you. You will also get the opportunity to speak to an Admissions Advisor when you can talk about your ideas for the future.

What happens after I have made my application to Cirencester College?

Following your application you will receive a telephone call from one of our experienced Admissions Team to discuss your application. This is to confirm that you have made the right choices of course for you and your longer term ambitions.

Following your call we would hope to be able to make you a Conditional Offer* of a place at Cirencester College – this doesn’t mean you have to study these courses – you can still change your mind.  Some of our courses have entry requirements and your place on that course will be conditional upon your attaining those grades.

*conditional on having the right entry requirements.

After you receive your GCSE results in the Summer, you will come in to the College for an Enrolment appointment. At Enrolment we can confirm your programme of study and you can pick up all the information you will need to start in September. If you do not get the grades you expected, we will still encourage you to attend your appointment, as this is an opportunity to review your programme of study with a member of the Guidance Team.

What is the Student Applicant Portal?

You will also be able to see all the latest news and all the exciting things happening on our social media platforms, don’t forget to follow us.

We will keep in regular contact with you through newsletters and the portal so please make sure you keep an eye on your emails.

Will I have work to do over the Summer?

Before you start Cirencester College you will find a summer assignment for your chosen subject(s) on the Student Applicant Portal.

This gives you the opportunity to start exploring your new subjects and give you a flavour of what to expect when you start College. It is also important that through this exercise you find out if the course(s) is what you expect it to be. If you are not sure about your subjects you will have the opportunity to look at what happens in other subjects by looking at their summer assignments.

Your work will need to be completed by the first week of term so that your teachers can assess it as part of your first Effort Grade.
