The Academy has five key objectives and these are a selection of the activities that the Academy has undertaken to support them: Make financial services a profession of choice - to help to address the sector’s difficulty in attracting young, highly motivated people, it launched the Finance Academy for the College’s 16-19 students. Its programme provides an insight into the industry and the skills, experience and qualifications valued by employers. Alongside a rigorous academic programme, students have the opportunity to be linked to mentor, partake in a 6 week placement during the summer break and gain work related skills. Speakers from Endsleigh Insurance, JA Financial Services, Cirencester Friendly and St. James’s Place demystified tax and wills, pensions, investments and income protection. The Finance Academy came together to encourage keen and motivated entrants to
join the sector and to raise the levels of professionalism in the
industry. Board members come from a range of companies, including St.
James’s Place, Nationwide, Capita Life and Pensions, Cirencester
Friendly Society and Positive Solutions.
