Finance Academy

jenny--sir-win-.jpg The Finance Academy came together to encourage keen and motivated entrants to join the sector and to raise the levels of professionalism in the industry. Board members come from a range of companies, including St. James’s Place, Nationwide, Capita Life and Pensions, Cirencester Friendly Society and Positive Solutions.

The Academy has five key objectives and these are a selection of the activities that the Academy has undertaken to support them:

Make financial services a profession of choice - to help to address the sector’s difficulty in attracting young, highly motivated people, it launched the Finance Academy for the College’s 16-19 students. Its programme provides an insight into the industry and the skills, experience and qualifications valued by employers. Alongside a rigorous academic programme, students have the opportunity to be linked to mentor, partake in a 6 week placement during the summer break and gain work related skills. Raise financial literacy across all age groups and in all sectors – members of the general public were invited into the College to receive free advice on ‘Making the most of your money’. Speakers from Endsleigh Insurance, JA Financial Services, Cirencester Friendly and St. James’s Place demystified tax and wills, pensions, investments and income protection.

Up skill those working in the financial services sector

Provide the industry with an opportunity to say what it needs…
