"I want to develop a new hobby or interest or do a course for myself"
Many people are not concerned about studying towards a particular qualification they just want a class to attend for fun and relaxation or to give them new skills. Learning something new is a great way to improve your self confidence and can even help you find a new direction in life. The college offers a number of courses designed to be recreational. However, there is nothing to stop you doing a more 'academic' course just for the sake of learning. We welcome learners of all ages and, whatever your level of knowledge or experience, there's sure to be a course you can do. You can either choose a course which leads to a qualification or one that is purely for enjoyment. Be sure to read the detailed course information on this website to find out whether a course has any assessment. Several courses are available at different levels with students progressing from 'beginners' to 'intermediate' and finally 'advanced' levels. Other courses are taught in a very open, flexible way with learners of different levels working alongside each other. Many of our learners come to think of their class-mates as friends with a very supportive, socialable atmosphere being created. Costs can vary considerably according to the length of the course and whether any subsidy is available to the course. Some courses are subsidised for particular people so it's worth asking if you think you might be eligible for any kind of reduction. If you have any queries about costs please ask the Enrolments Office or the Adult Guidance Service. Most recreational courses run over a number of weeks three times a year but there are exceptions to this so it's well worth keeping an eye on the website or even registering your email address to receive an alert each time a new class is offered. Our enrolment office staff are available during office hours to answer telephone enquiries and take payment for courses over the phone. They should be able to offer basic advice about whether a course is right for you and will always do their best to help with any queries you may have. If you cannot find the kind of course you want, please contact us. We are always open to new suggestions! Not right for you, what about ....?
