AS Levels :-

• are the first year of an A-level programme but also qualifications in their own right,
• are academic in their approach, and a good preparation for university study,
• are usually combined with other AS-levels in a programme of 4 or 5 subjects, or with the first year of a National Award, Certificate or Diploma and with qualifications in key skills,
• suitable for students who expect GCSE passes at A*, A, B or C,
• available in over 50 subjects,
• mainly assessed through end of year exams with some assessed coursework,
• timetabled for 5 hours of teaching per week.
