What are the Academies?

In association with the UK Careers Academy Foundation, the financial services industry, and successful hospitality, marketing and IT companies locally, Cirencester College offers a limited number of students the opportunity to join one of our four employer led Academies, Finance, Marketing, Hospitality and IT. The Academies are based on a highly successful American model pioneered by Citigroup, and are unique in the high level of employer involvement and interest they attract. Programmes are designed to ensure that graduating students have a very real choice of higher education study or employment that builds on their skills and interests.

Cirencester College is the only college locally to offer Academy programmes, and is regarded as a flagship UKCAF centre. Students will have the opportunity to join other Academy students from all over the country at a major conference hosted by top companies in Canary Wharf.

Academy programmes are designed for those students whose ambition is to have a successful and rewarding business career; the Academy route will give them a flying start. In addition to academic qualifications at level 3, students are guaranteed a paid 6 week internship with one of our employer partners, and their own business mentor to provide support, advice and encouragement.

Science students, following a programme of A level science subjects, will also have the opportunity to apply for internships and to have a mentor.

For students who prefer the outdoor life, we offer Countryside and Environment programmes at level 2 and 3, through our Heritage Academy. Here students will develop a wide range of practical skills, in high demand by the sector, at level 2, and, at level 3, have the opportunity to specialise and gain a wider understanding of the issues facing those who manage the sector. Once again we will offer internships and the possibility of working with a mentor.
