environ001.jpgAt Cirencester College we offer the Foundation Degree in Environmental Conservation and Heritage Management (FdSc) in partnership with the Royal Agricultural College (RAC). We have combined the long and successful tradition of land-based higher education training at the RAC with the vocational experience of further educational teaching from staff at Cirencester College, one of the top colleges in the country. This course will also fall within the Heritage Academy with its close links to employers in heritage, environment and conservation.

who is it for?

The Foundation Degree is ideal for those looking for a career-related degree, without having to give up work to become a full-time student. You will have the opportunity to use practical skills as part of your qualification. Foundation Degrees are for everyone with the ability and motivation to succeed; for those completing BTEC or A level study; for employees who want to get on in their job and for those wanting to return to work or change their career.

what will I study and for what duration?

The course will be taught at the RAC and Cirencester College by tutors from both institutions. Sessions will include both classroom teaching and practicals including substantial amounts of outdoor learning.

how will I be assessed?

This foundation degree will gradually build up your academic writing skills so that you can cope with the demands of the Honours year should you choose to continue. Other assessment will have a vocational emphasis and include practicals, portfolios, simulations, surveys, multimedia and reports. Some assignments will mirror tasks you would undertake in employment in this sector. There will be a work placement component.

what can I do after the foundation degree?

Once you have successfully gained your Foundation Degree in Environmental Conservation and Heritage Management (FdSc) you will have the opportunity to progress to an honours degree programme (BSc) at the RAC.
