E2i - Entry to Independence
This information describes a programme which includes the following courses
E2i is a full-time, flexible programme, taking up to 3 years to complete, for students aged 16-25 who have mild to severe learning difficulties.
 
 
    This course is not generally available to part-time adult students.

    What does the programme involve?

    The key focus is on developing independence skills. Students are given the opportunity to develop their numeracy, literacy and social skills through a variety of different activities. These include options in different vocational areas such as catering, retail, and horticulture. Other sessions include sport and fitness, art, drama and accessing the community.

    What will I study?

    : Students have the opportunity to gain vocational/work experience and to focus on literacy, numeracy and communication skills as well as social and personal development. Students will work towards Edexcel qualifications.

    What are the general college entry requirements for this type of course? 

    • You will have mainly F and G grades at GCSE AND be assessed pre-entry

    What else do I need to know?

    Progression:
    Students may wish to progress to our Foundation Programme, to supported employment or to our broad range of part-time courses for adults. The course is open solely to young people between the ages of 14 - 25.

    Will I receive support in the classroom?
    Yes. There are support workers with this group throughout the College day, including breaks and lunchtimes. Students will be individually assessed to establish their support needs. One to one support will be available if approriate.
    Are there any additional costs?
    Although we make every effort to keep additional costs to a minimum, there are a number of practical activities the students take part in which can cost up to £10 per week. For students on a low income, an application can be made for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).
