What is an Access to Higher Education Diploma at Cirencester College?

The Access to Higher Education Diploma prepares students aged 19+ for university.

Students who choose the Access to Higher Education course may have left school without gaining a level 3 qualification such as A-levels or a vocational (BTEC).

The Access to Higher Education Diploma gives adult learners the ideal opportunity to return to education to achieve their career goals.  The course is recognised by universities and other higher education institutions and carries UCAS Tariff points on a par with A-levels or vocational (BTEC) courses.

Which Access to Higher Education Courses can I do at Cirencester College?

Access to Higher Education for Health Professions

Our health professions pathway covers healthcare, nursing and midwifery and can lead onto degrees in subjects such as nursing, midwifery and paramedic science. Students will be studying Biology and Sociology along with core elements of study skills, IT skills and academic writing skills. Students will need a minimum entry requirement of a C/4+ grades in English, Maths and Science GCSE.

When will I study the Access to Higher Education course at Cirencester College?

The Access to Higher Education course is a one-year full time course, taught over 3 days per week, from 9.30am to 3pm between September and May. This course will be starting in September 2024.

Maths and English

If you do not have one of the required grades of C/4+ in English and Maths, you may be able to join one of GCSE evening classes alongside your course, in order for you to meet the course and university requirements.

Funding and Fees
