Cirencester College recently hosted a question and answer session with local Cirencester Town Council member Sabrina Poole. Sabrina, a former student, is the youngest and only Green Party councillor on the town council. A number of Year 2 Politics students participated, asking questions on a range of topics including why and how she became involved in politics, her experiences standing in the 2017 general election and the merits of various electoral systems.
Politics Lecturer Greg Pollock commented “Sabrina’s talk provided our students with a great opportunity to find out more about her experiences in the general election campaign and why she felt it was so important for young people to become more engaged in politics at all levels. They were very interested in finding out more about the work of town councils and how cross party cooperation is often easier on a local level.”
