T-level Courses

The horticulture industry offers a range of careers and contributes over £24 billion to the UK economy. If you are interested in plants, have a creative flair or enjoy the scientific element, then horticulture could be the course for you. Horticulture will often take the classroom outside for much of the course, where learners will gain an understanding of plants, trees, garden therapy, pest control, aquatics and lawns. Throughout the course you will learn all about their biology and how to grow and keep them healthy. You will learn the skills of landscaping a garden using paths, fences, pergolas and creating planting schemes and how to safely use the tools and materials necessary to complete the jobs. Along the way, you will learn about pest control, soil improvement and how to create habitats for nature. You will explore the wider land-based sector and also the commercial and organisational skills for managing a garden or horticultural business.

If you are passionate about animals and want to make a difference in their lives, then the animal T-level is for you. This two-year technical qualification will give you the skills and knowledge you need to work in a range of animal care and management occupations.

The Creative Industries has seen significant growth in recent years, which has given rise to the T-Level in Craft & Design. The T-Level is a key stepping stone to an apprenticeship, a career or higher education within a creative field. This two year course will allow students to develop a sound understanding and awareness of running a creative business, alongside theoretical knowledge of how the individual works within organisations of all sizes, whilst gaining a valuable work placement. The T-Level in Craft & Design will be taught in brand-new, specialist teaching rooms in the new ‘Art Lofts’ at Cirencester College, and delivered by highly skilled lecturers and technicians. The creative skills learnt will encourage students to develop their confidence in a wide range of materials, processes and design and making. All of the different elements of the T-Level will be delivered through project based learning with a mixture of hands on making, teamwork, employability skills and research and presentation opportunities.

The Business Management and Administration T-level offers young people a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on experience and important theoretical knowledge of how businesses operate, and how they can have a meaningful impact when they enter the workforce. You will be developing team and professional skills to get you ready for employment as well as all the essential knowledge needed for the sector.

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the sector. You will study different types of business, analyse what works and what doesn’t and understand how they innovate and respond to challenges.

As well as a robust work experience element of the course, each student will have the choice of studying one stand alone occupational specialism: Business Improvement, Team Leadership/Management, Business Support.

Do you want a career supporting children/young people through their education and experiences? Then the T-level in Childcare and Education is the course for you. Covering a wide range of aspects of learning, development and offering practical experience, this course would help you prepare for a career as an Early Years Practitioner, Primary School Teacher and many more.

This course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the technical and practical aspects of building services engineering including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems.

This T-level is designed to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of various aspects of the construction and built environment sector, with a focus on design, surveying and planning.

Do you enjoy coding and solving problems? If so this T-level course is for you. Programming and problem-solving are some of the most sought-after skills in the IT industry. Whether you enjoy solving problems or coding for apps and games, this course can open the gate for you into this fantastic rapidly expanding industry. In this qualification, you will learn to code in a range of different languages and understand how organisations develop software within the industry.

All organisations, private and public sector use information technology and networks to communicate and exchange information, but what happens when these systems go down? Every day organisations face global Cyber threats which can cause considerable disruption. When a Cyber-attack occurs, an organisation can be vulnerable to data breaches and loss of profits both of which could impact their reputation. In the public sector, health service downtime can result in cancelled operations or medical appointments due to equipment not working correctly, which can directly impact a patient’s health. Working in Cyber security can be both exciting and rewarding learning the latest techniques to stay one step ahead of the hackers. This course will give you the skills needed to identify and prevent Cyber threats – you will have the opportunity to attempt ethical hacking in our off-grid sandbox lab and complete vulnerability testing. You will also be monitoring threats in real time and finding innovative ways to intercept them before they cause significant problems. You will be investigating DDOS and ransomware attacks and how to mitigate these. This is an exciting time to join the Cyber and IT security industry and this course will prepare you to enter the industry.

Every organisation needs an IT support team. This course will prepare you to work in a digital IT support role. If you enjoy building and repairing hardware this could be the route for you. On this course you will be repairing and upgrading computers, installing operating systems and fault finding hardware problems. You will use the latest hardware and software in our brand new digital tech lab and develop these skills. You will be identifying network vulnerabilities, setting up networks, building computers and servers. You will be installing operating systems, and completing a range of technical skills. Along with technical skills, we will develop your teamwork and personal skills as IT support is always a critical relationship role. This is an exciting time to join the IT industry with many technical innovations. This T-level will also provide you with an opportunity to complete a 45 day industry placement where you will be working within the industry and learning the latest skills and trends in the sector.

Do you have an excellent eye for design? Do you want to know how things work? Can you problem solve in creative and imaginative ways? You may have the right brain to become an engineer. This course takes you on a journey of discovery to help you understand how materials, environment and actual application of engineering can influence design and development of new things. You’ll learn about the exciting use of skills to solve real world problems, industry, career opportunities, sustainable green engineering, and the thrust of commercial applications. You’ll study a standard core set of themes that give you a fantastic head start in getting to grips with the world of engineering, then specialisms within the course including electrical, mechanical and structural elements for when you find your aspirational path.

The global multi-billion-pound sector of manufacturing is fuelled by Engineers constantly innovating to solve our everyday problems. Are you fascinated by how it’s made? Explore diverse industry sectors from car manufacturing to how we feed whole countries. You’ll learn about the exciting use of skills to solve real world problems, how the industry works based on engineering thinking, career opportunities for engineers, sustainability, and the true potential of engineering in the commercial setting. There is a huge real-world 45-day industry placement experience built into the course, giving you a real advantage in the employment marketplace. In addition to robust core elements that give you a really good understanding of the sector, you will be able to specialise in an area such as production technologies, process design or materials use.

Are you interested in working as a nurse, midwife or paramedic?  This ground-breaking course provides a route into these roles. The arrival of our new T-level Building complete with our own Hospital Ward, makes this the course to head for in 2024.

The course has a broad focus on nursing, good practice in health care and understanding of the NHS, which makes it useful in many other branches of health care. A major placement, where you work with patients and health professionals, is a central part of the course. The course is also suitable for those of you who wish to go on to University to study nursing or health at a higher level.

Do you want to work in the private or public healthcare sector? Healthcare Science includes a very wide range of jobs and roles including working in pharmacies or supporting medical teams in a variety of fields such as radiography, physiotherapy and audiology. On this pathway, you will gain a better understanding of the science sector and further your knowledge including cell cycle and cellular respiration, enzyme and protein structure, pathogens, classification of biological materials, kinetic changes and relevant analytical techniques.

What is different about these courses is the fact they have been designed and built by employers from the ground up to be a high-level technical qualification that is the equivalent of three A-levels, including all the cutting-edge real requirements for working in the modern workplace. Unique to the T-level, you’ll get the chance to learn practical skills like clinical tasks or taking physiological measurements, and how these can be used to give people the quality care they deserve.

Psychological wellbeing and an individual's mental health is right at the forefront of society. Do you want to gain early insights into the practice and theory behind our mental health? If so, this might be the course for you if you are interested in working in the health and wellbeing sector. The course covers core adult nursing knowledge and skills to develop best practice in health care and understanding of the NHS as well as a specific focus on supporting the mental health team. As part of the course, you will undertake a major placement, where you work with patients and health professionals to develop your knowledge and skills. Over the two years, you’ll be developing team and professional skills to get you ready for employment and all the essential knowledge needed for the sector of your choice. The course is also suitable for those of you who wish to go on to University to study mental health nursing at a higher level.

The legal sector is a dynamic and rapidly developing world. The need for a range of business-focussed, legal educational training is continuously growing. This T-level offers learners a fantastic foundation block for going into the industry or university with a range of exciting pathways for learners to specialise in. The 2 year programme is designed to equip ambitious learners with the knowledge and skills that they will need to go into such a stimulating industry. Learners will gain an understanding of how different legal firms work and where they sit within the industry, the language and terminology that is used and the expectations that are set to prepare them for this world of work. All students will also gain the skills needed to succeed including negotiation, initiative, problem solving, working with different people and commercial awareness to name a few.

The media industry is changing rapidly with advances in technology and online platforms allowing the distribution of content to become instant and global. You will learn about how the media operates and get a practical and theoretic introduction to the knowledge, skills and understanding of the digital media industry. You will develop an understanding of how to use graphics, video and sound to create products for specific target audiences including basic web creation. You will also develop knowledge and understanding of media pre-production, planning and production processes. You will develop transferable skills such as planning, communication, adaptability and leadership. Put your current creative and technical impulses to use and develop a platform of new skills across a range of media arts practices within our extensive production facilities and with our highly experienced, industry-focused teaching team.

If it is the technical side of media production which mainly interests you then this is the right course. This course will equip you with the skills and understanding of sound and moving images to enable you to record, edit, store and archive mainly digital media. As with the other creative media options, the course will also explore the industry and develop your understanding of audience, language and the team and entrepreneurial skills that are valued in this fast-moving industry.

Whether it is festivals, concerts or theatre productions this course is designed to give you all the skills to become a successful events and venues technician. There is a strong focus on technical skills to enable you to rig events but also includes design, planning and the organisational skills to set up, run and then take down efficiently. You will be introduced to ways of managing the whole sequence from initial ideas through pre-planning to rehearsals and final performance and the tools and knowledge required to coordinate teams and organise logistics. The course will blend practical and theoretical and the major element will be a placement where you will be able to put your developing skills and knowledge into practice. If you are a performer, there will be space in the programme for this too.
