Now with 12 consecutive years of a 99% A level pass rate, Cirencester Sixth Form College set itself some very tight subject targets and are proud of staff and students for rising to the challenge. The A* to B pass rate is standing at a record 56% of 1649 entries and the strength of the Science and Maths results supports the investment from the Gloucestershire Learning and Enterprise Partnership in the new STEM centre opening in September. Chemistry, Biology and Physics all recorded well over 60% A* to B grades, as did Design, Drama, English Literature, Law and Photography.
A major good news story was in Maths, reflected in a 70% A* to B pass rate and 61 As and A*s were achieved in Maths and Further Maths. Modern Languages, World Development, Anthropology, Textiles and Fine Art all with an equally impressive 70% A* to B show that the College performs amazingly in facilitating subjects, without neglecting the creative disciplines so important to our society. 35 out of 41 subjects had a 100% pass rate.
Principal Kim Clifford commented: “These are the results you would expect from an outstanding Sixth Form College, I am delighted that all the big STEM subjects shone and that we are not only able to offer a great choice but also quality across our provision. A few weeks ago we held an Awards Ceremony to recognise our best vocational results. We want to be the aspirational Sixth Form of choice. This performance shows we are not unrealistic in this aim and our students and prospective students can be confident in success at Cirencester College.”
As always there are individual stories of academic excellence and of course our 99% includes all those students, who have worked so hard to out perform predictions.
