A full introduction to learning the basics of crochet, suitable for complete beginners and those that would like to continue to practice beginner level skills and patterns. This course will teach you a wide range of basic techniques and skills, starting with how to hold the hook and yarn to creating your first simple projects. There will be lots of help available from your passionate tutor, including demonstration and guidance on finding your way of working. You will also learn common crochet language enabling you to read patterns that will take you forwards on your crochet journey.

Crochet basics – how to hold and manoeuvre the hook and yarn, starting and finishing techniques, learning basic stitches, changing colour, working in rows and in rounds, understanding crochet terms, using basic patterns. Projects are likely to be things like baskets, snoods, cushion covers and coasters
How will I learn?
Demonstration including crochet terms and language, hand outs (glossary of terms, guide sheets, photos, diagrams, crochet patterns), 1:1 guidance throughout session rotating around the group, finished items to look at and take guidance from.
What do I need to bring?
You may want to bring a pair of Scissors and a large darning needle, however we can provide these if needed.
We suggest bringing a folder to keep sheets and samples in so that you can look back at them in the future

Perfect class for beginners; perfect teacher
This a great introductory class for beginners to crochet! I can’t recommend Lisa, the teacher, enough. She is a fabulous, very patient, and very encouraging teacher. Having previously taken a similar class at another college, I struggled awfully in that class and felt defeated. Four years later, I’ve picked up the class again and I’m hooked. I get it now and can happily crochet away while relaxing in front of the TV in the evening; a perfect activity for the darker, colder nights when we withdraw to our cosy sofas.
