Would you like to try something different with your sewing machine?
If you’re comfortable with your machine but fancy something a little more challenging, then this 5-week course is for you.
This course is aimed at people who are not strangers to their sewing machine and who would like to add another skill to their growing set.
Over the 5 weeks you will cut out, interface and line your own handbag. You will make your own handles, add a slip pocket and a zipped pocket and even a recessed zip to close your bag. Imagine the satisfaction when someone says ‘oh I love your handbag. Where did you get it from?’.
The tutor demonstrates the skills to be learned in each session and will be on hand to answer any questions and offer advice. Handouts will be given at the end of each class so learners can make further projects at home.
Your working sewing machine. Please note it may be worth putting your machine in for a service before the class if it has not been used for a while to avoid disappointment in the first lesson if it doesn’t work.
A basic sewing kit will be needed. We suggest at least: fabric scissors or a rotary cutter, quilting ruler, cutting mat, little thread scissors, pins and sewing clips.
You will need to bring fabric and thread so that it is unique to you and your style.
We will be in touch before the start of the course with what you will need for Week 1.
