Making Friends with your Sewing Machine – Advanced

This 5 week course will be laid out as week one as a get to know you class where you will make a simple coin purse and the following weeks will allow you, as a class to choose your own projects. If you have always wanted to make your own clothes, cushions and other items but have no idea where to start? Do you want to learn and socialise with a fab group of people at the same time?

Then come and join our weekly sessions.

The advanced class is for students who have already got to grips with how to use their sewing machine. They should feel confident using their machine to sew basic projects such as those in the beginner’s class (Tote bag, cushion, apron etc).

*Please note this is not a beginner’s course, if you do not know how to thread your machine, please book a space on the beginner’s course instead, where your tutor will teach you how to do this alongside how to use the machine.

What will I be making?

You will undertake more advanced projects than in the beginner’s class.

Week 1 will be a get-to-know-you class where you will make a simple coin purse and then as a class, you will work on set projects that you as a class decide on.

How will I learn?

The Tutor demonstrates the skills to be learned in each session and will be on hand to answer any questions and offer advice.

What do I need to bring?

Your working sewing machine. Please note it may be worth putting your machine in for a service before the class if it has not been used in years to avoid disappointment in the first lesson if it doesn’t work.

A basic sewing kit will be needed. We suggest at least: fabric scissors or a rotary cutter, quilting ruler, cutting mat, little thread scissors and pins

You will need to bring fabric and thread for each project so that the projects are unique to you and your style.

We will be in touch before the start of the course with what you will need for Week 1.

What else do I need to know?

Please bring your machine to the sessions.
