This course will look at the development of Medieval Kingship from Edward III to Henry VI and discuss the importance of factors such as war, plague, religion, rebellion and revolt in shaping Medieval England and ultimately, the authority of the Crown itself. We will look in depth at the role of the Hundred Years War, the Black Death and the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 in bringing about fundamental and lasting changes that would help shape the Crown for centuries to come.
