Learn some key listening and responding skills and be equipped to become a better listener.
Supporting the emotional needs and wellbeing of others can leave us feeling out of our depth, unsure of what to say or do to be of most help. This course will help increase your confidence for helping others and enhance your ability to listen to others in personal or professional helping roles. It can also serve as a first step for those considering training as a counsellor.
Over five sessions, the course will cover the following topics:
- The Helping Relationship (exploring the qualities of an effective helper)
- Enhancing our Listening Skills (active listening and blocks and barriers to listening)
- Supporting Safely and Appropriately (boundaries , ethical considerations and responding skills)
- Self-Awareness (understanding values and prejudices and their impact)
- Self-Care (recognising the need for resourcing and restoring ourselves)
The course is delivered by Willows Counselling and Training and will comprise a mixture of interactive teaching, discussion, group work and skills practice sessions.
This course is suitable for all adult learners who would like to improve their listening skills. No previous experience or qualifications necessary.
