This course covers a wide variety of aspects related to the Sport, Exercise and Health industry. Modules studied include Anatomy & Physiology, Fitness Testing & Training, Planning & Leading Sports Events, Sport Nutrition, Injury in Sport, Lifestyle & the Sports Performer and Practical Sports.

What will I study?

The course consists of Core and Optional units:

The Optional Units:

  • Injury in Sport
  • Planning & Leading Sport Activities
  • Fitness Testing & Training
  • Psychology for Sports Performance
  • Lifestyle and the Sports Performer

Teaching methods that are used are lectures, group discussions / work, practical lessons and research tasks. Students will also be put through football and basketball Level 1 Coaching course.

How will I be assessed?

Students will be assessed using a range of methods which include:

  • written assignments
  • practical, presentations
  • portfolio building
  • posters and leaflets

Are there any extra costs?

There is a course cost of £30 which pays for trips, printing and a basic stationery pack. We encourage students to purchase the Cirencester College PE Kit pack which ranges from £70 to £170

Are there any specific entry requirements?

·       Mainly grade 3s at GCSE

·       NVQ Level 1 or First Diploma

or you are:

·       Pre 16

·       Home or Steiner educated

Are there any exams?

No – there are no exams in this course; all assessments are coursework based. However occasionally teachers may choose to assess your knowledge through informal internal tests.

Is this course right for me?

This is a good choice for those who have not achieved five grade 4s or above at GCSE level. It will help you gain the knowledge, confidence, study skills and entry requirements to progress to a Level 3 course such as AS levels or National Diplomas.
