In the diploma you will cover a wide range of units over the two years, the units vary from working as a resort representative to studying UK, European and worldwide destinations. Customer Service is a key element to the industry and you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate your service skills. Work experience* is compulsory and generally takes place in the second year. Planning and organising events will also feature highly. When undertaking the role of cabin crew you will be expected to attend and external assessment centre. This will involve an additional cost.
This study programme is designed to give you an in depth understanding of the travel & tourism industry, and will raise your awareness of other sectors that the industry is comprised of. You will also gain an insight into the range of opportunities currently available within the industry.
The diploma option will cover 12 units over the 2 years and the certificate will cover 6 units

Lectures, workshops, group work, visiting speakers, practical sessions and outside visits to provide students with a realistic view of the industry. This will also involve an overseas residential trip.
You will particpate in a range of activities including in participation in a cabin crew assessment day in year 2, participating in work experience, planning and delivering a guided tour as well as written reports, class presentations and role plays.
Guest speakers will also come in to lessons and provide you with industry examples.
There are trips available in both the UK and overseas, we have recently visited Seville. There will be several day trips to help with assessment. In year 2 there will a trip to a Cabin Crew Assessment Centre at an additional cost that will be part of your assessment.
There will be several trips that would be beneficial for you to go on throughout the course there would be nominal fees. The Cabin Crew Assessment Day is currently £80 including transport to Heathrow.
All students will need to purchase a Cirencester College polo shirt for assessments.
There are overseas trips available however these would not be compulsory.
At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including 3 from the core subjects.
Studying travel will give you access to numerous guest speakers, we work closley with Emirates Airlines, Barnsley House Hotel, Cheltenham Chase Hotel, De Vere Waterpark Hotel, STA Travel and Cotswold District Council just to name a few.
The opportunity to visit UK and overseas destination will also be available.
In Year 2 of the course most learners will participate in a minimum of one week's work experience in a travel and tourism organsiation, which forms part of their formal assessement.
Over the two year course you will participate in a work experience placement and have the opportunity to go on an overseas residential trip.
