Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

This course is designed for learners who are interested in learning about enterprise and entrepreneurship alongside their other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses. You will explore the creativity and mind set of real life entrepreneurs, their importance to the local economy and investigate the skills required to become successful.

What will I study?

You will have an opportunity to understand key entrepreneurial  skills which will enable you to understand the skills and qualities required to be a  successful leader. You will get to study:

  • Key entrepreneurial skills and characteristics 
  • Motivations and barriers when setting up a business
  • The importance of entrepreneurs to the economy
  • Sources of finance
  • The role of marketing and market research
  • How to plan and develop a marketing campaign

How will I learn?

You will have an opportunity to learn through a variety of theoretical and practical methods  including:

  • Traditional business lectures
  • Case studies
  • Meeting local business owners

How will I be assessed?

During your course you will be assessed through a mix of internal methods such as presentations and reports and external assessments  marked by BTEC.  

Are there any trips on this course?

You will get opportunities to visit businesses and meet local entrepreneurs. You will also get an opportunity to take part in a Business competition run by a stock market listed business.
