This broad base of modules allows the student to explore the vast array of sports science disciplines to build a broad base knowledge that shows you how these intricate details combine to produce sporting movement and success. The course is a significant change to GCSE study with theoretical knowledge paramount in the structure of the course. These new and exciting theoretical aspects are studied and learnt in a practical manner, which include finding out the acceleration of your leg when kicking, through to how personality can affect your adherence to exercise.
The Sport and Exercise Science Vocational course may be studied in various patterns and can lead to a range of qualifications.

All other units which will be a mix of written reports and presentations.
In order to gain entry onto this course each learner will have gained a minimum of a 5 GCSE'S at C or eqivalent including a 4 in English and Maths, a 5 in Science and preferably a 6 in PE.
Assessments will be a mix of external exams,controlled case study assessments and written reports.
You will not be assesed on your practical ability.
The majority of learners progress onto HE study programms. Popular university choices are Exeter, Bath, Cardiff, Gloucester and Loughborough although many other univerisities are available.
Some learners choose to go straight into the work place within gyms, fitness centres, sports clubs etc.
The course will involve trips to local universities to see courses available as well as see a day in the life of a university student.
Students also have the option to be a part of the Development squads in Netball, Football, Rugby and Badminton although many other sports are available at participation level.

As with all BTEC courses there is a heavy workload of assignments & students must have a good level of organisation & are expected to be able to meet deadlines
£30 – This fee goes towards trips taken as part of the course & course booklets. Students will also get a stationary start-up pack from reprographics including a file, pens, paper & a 4GB memory stick.
£70 approx – Optional fee on top of the course fee as students are encouraged to purchase Cirencester College sports kit which comes in a variety of packages that range from £70.

This course is suited to learners planning on going into the sports science industry workplace or onto higher education to study Sport Science. THere will some practical elements within teaching but more reduced than at GCSE level.
Learners will be interested in the Science behind the human body and physical activity.
