ICT Level 2 Vocational

The ICT Extended Certificate will involve using spreadsheets to analyse and interpret data, and either learning to build a website using Dreamweaver or building a game or learning about how computers are built. Expected progression routes from this course are to a Level 3 course in ICT, to employment or to an apprenticeship.

What will I study?

The course as it is currently delivered involves the following units, which are all assessed via coursework assignments.

In ICT, you will study 4 units: Working in the IT Industry; Communicating in the IT Industry; Computer Systems, Game Design or Spread Sheet Modelling. If you have some prior experience using HTML then web design could also be a possibility.

How will I learn?

The majority of the learning takes place in the traditional classroom or a computer suite.   Learning is structured using workbooks, students also learn skills and then apply them to real life client briefs.

For one week during the year students will be encouraged to take part in work placement. This is particularly useful for progression and building up a CV linked to ICT.

How will I be assessed?

The course as it is currently delivered is assessed entirely via coursework assignments. 

Are there any extra costs?


It would be particularly useful if students had access to a PC or laptop at home, which had Excel and Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop installed. It is important that students are able to access and use our Moodle system to gain course material and upload assignments.

Are there any specific entry requirements?

·       Mainly grade 3s at GCSE

·       NVQ level 1 or First Diploma

.       some experience of coding (e.g. using HTML).
