ESOL
This one-year course is for 16-18-year olds whose first language is not English. You will work to improve your English so that you are then able to progress onto other courses. This course is a full-time course and students will study mostly English with additional maths, tutors and projects alongside.
What will I study in ESOL?
ESOL – English reading, writing, speaking and listening. With options to take ESOL exams in a variety of levels
Maths – with the option to take exams in a variety of levels
Citizenship mixed with local culture and exploration
A taught Project
You will also have tutor sessions, and supervised study. You are also welcome to join our College enrichment activities.
Entry Requirements
You do not need any formal entry requirements or qualifications for this course.
You will need to meet with one of our tutors who will give you an initial assessment to establish your level of English and Maths.
How will I learn?
Your timetable will be 4 days a week and will be taught in class by our specialised tutors. You will be expected to complete some study outside of teaching hours too
How will I be assessed?
You can complete this course with your own learning goals (set by tutor and student) or you can opt to take exams in English and Maths. English exams are split into 3 topics.
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking and listening.
These are taken through Pearson’s - ESOL (English for speakers of other languages).

You will likely visit local places around Cirencester within your classes
