Entry Requirements

A-Levels

GCSE grade 4s in any 5 of the following core subjects (short GCSEs count as half a grade) :

  • Business Studies
  • Citizenship
  • Computer Science
  • English Language **
  • English Literature
  • Foreign Language
  • Geography
  • History
  • Law
  • Maths **
  • Music
  • Philosophy
  • Psychology
  • Religious Studies
  • Science(double, triple or Level 2 Merit)
  • Sociology

** If a student does not have a GRADE 4 in English Language or Maths it is a legal requirement to resit the GCSE.

There are specific minimum requirements for the new Maths and English GCSE gradings:

Maths 7 Maths 6 Maths 5 Maths 4 Eng Lan 5 Other
Accounting
Biology 6 in Biology 6 in Comb/Trio Science
Business Grade 4 in English
Chemistry 6 in Chemistry 6 in Comb/Trio Science
Computer Science Not a requirement but if GCSE taken a grade 4 would be required
Economics
Electronics 4 in Comb/Trio Science
English Language
English Literature
Eng Lang & Lit
Environmental Science
Fine Art 5 in an art subject or merit/dist Art & Des
Further Maths
Geography
Geology
History 4 in History (if taken)
Languages 6 or prove aptitude in chosen language
Maths Grade 7 is strongly recommended
Maths & Further Maths
Physics 6 in Physics or 6 in Comb/Trio Science – we recommend you take at least AS-level Maths alongside
Psychology
Core Maths: Statistics
Graphic Communication, 3D Design, Textiles all require grade 4 in an art subject or level 2 Art & Design merit/distinction

Level 2 Diploma in Science will not qualify for A-level Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

For Vocational Extended Diplomas you will need: Distinction in a Level 2 Diploma or:
Five grade 4s at GCSE including 3 from the following group:

Level 2 Vocational Courses

GCSE English/Maths/Science & Vocational Pathways

  • are home educated
  • have relocated from abroad
  • have had a disrupted education through ill health
  • prefer assessment through coursework not exams and entry requirements are mainly grade 3s, NVQ level 1 or First Diploma.

Upgrade Study Programme

A minimum of 3 grade 2s at GCSE alongside an interview

Planned Learning Hours for all Students

Students need to be enrolled on a Study Programme of a minimum of 540 hours and up to 600 hours. The combinations will relate to your GCSE profile which equates to:

  • 4 A-levels
  • 3 A-levels + EPQ
  • 3 A-levels
  • T-level
  • Vocational Extended Diploma
  • Vocational Diploma + 1 A-level
  • Level 2 Diploma
