As the media sector in the UK continues to grow, begin your career in this exciting industry by studying our level 3 certificate in Digital Media. Put your current creative and technical impulses to use and develop a platform of new skills across a range of media arts practices within our extensive production facilities and with our highly experienced, industry focused teaching team.
What will I study in Media (Digital) Level 3 Certificate?
You will study a range of creative digital arts mediums from within moving image practices, such as music video, advertising and documentary to digital graphic design, photography and interactive media forms such as web and app design. Alongside practical coursework focused project work, you will also be taught indepth media theories that relate to all your areas of study including industry and audience. This course will allow you to develop and explore your creative ideas alongside developing your practical media hardware and software skills.
Entry Requirements
Study from with in a relevant media related subject or art and design is preferable although not specifically required.
How will I learn?
You will be taught via in-class practical activities, hardware and software demonstrations and lectures. You will work both in small groups and individually to complete your projects. Your lecturer and full time technican will guide you as you discover your potential as a future media practioner.
How will I be assessed?
This is a two year course and is the equivalent of 1 A-Level. You will complete 8 Units overall. 6 of these units are coursework based, 2 are examined. You will sit 1 exam in each academic year. The practical units are subject to change but typically include units in the following areas:
- Photography
- Promotional video
- Music Video
- Digital Animation
- Website design
- Graphic Novel
The examined units focus on the following areas:
- Media products and audiences
- Pre-production and planning
Any trips?
Previously, the media department has taken trips to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studios and British Board of Film Classification.
Are there any costs involved?
Each student is required to have their own SD card for filming and photography. This must be a 'class 10' SD card. We recommend 32gb in size.
