Data analysis has become a vital element in every organisation from sport performance to marketing. Data
technicians are responsible for collecting, analysing, and implementing information, as well as facilitating data storage processes, creating detailed reports based on their work, and providing conclusions based on their observations. This course will help you to develop your skills using databases and spreadsheets and apply them in business contexts. Business analysts use the data to identify new clients, products, improve training and processes, and help their companies become more effective and profitable.
This course is made up of different sections. The first is the core. This will give you a baseline understanding of the industry. It covers a range of areas, giving you a vital underpinning knowledge and understanding of concepts and the skills that you’ll need in this sector. You will also complete an "Employer Set Project" as part of this core learning.
The core elements of digital will cover a host of themes including the following:

- Concepts and fundamentals of data

- Abstraction, Action, Decomposition and Patterns

- Emerging technologies
- Planning and Security

In addition the employer set project will test you on a host of skills including:
- Communication skills
- Problem solving
- Working with others
- Setting performance criteria
- Carrying out primary research
The specialism part of the qualifcation covers content which aligns with industry specific skills or directly relevant content for your chosen occupation. The third section of the course is an “Industry Placement” which gives you valuable work experience and also has a work related project attached to it. In addition, there are a host of other elements such as preparation for work, T-Level specific tutoring and careers advice and guidance to make a relevant and substantial study programme.

5 GCSE grades at 4 or above including Maths and English

Whether you would like to work in digital information for the NHS, helping patients to receive the correct appointment information, or storing their details correctly, or for an international retailer tracking products for export, this course will provide you with the necessary skills.
During the two-year programme, you will learn the core knowledge that underpins most jobs in the digital industry and you will also develop occupation-specific skills that will allow you to enter skilled employment within the data analysis industry. In addition to the minimum of 45-day work placement in the industry, you will be trained and guided, by our expert staff, as you work on a set of exciting projects outlined by employers in the industry to develop your technical and professional skills further. Our pioneering T-Level in Digital Business Services is an ideal qualification for you if you are passionate about utilising IT technology and data intelligence to build digital business information systems which help enterprises make decisions and attain business objectives. You will learn the essential industrial digital skills, such as data analysis, how businesses interact with technology, with culture and legislations so as to build and test robust information systems and empower businesses. You then build on this, in the 2nd year, by developing specialist skills such as: understand how to securely source, format analyse and interpret reliable data to support business needs; use data blending tools and techniques such as macros in spreadsheets, databases query languages (SQL, NoSQL) and OLAP (online analytical processing); apply legal, ethical and professional principles when manipulating data
The core is assessed with two exams which are externally marked. Both are two hours long. Learners are also required to complete an employer set project task as part of the core.
All learners will complete a 45 day industry placement as part of their course. This can be completed with one or two employers. The placement can be a day release or over a number of weeks as a block placement. Learners must pass the industry placement. Learners will complete their placement in year 1 and 2.
The Occupational Specialism Assessment (OSA) will be assessed by three assignments which are completed under control assessment conditions.
Learners will visit a range of organisations to see how digital technology is used in industry.
There are no additional costs however learners would benefit from having access to a laptop of computer at home.

The work placement will be over 45 days. You will have the opportunity to work with one or two employers within in the IT industry. Your work placement could be a day release or a number of weeks. We work with many organisations within the IT industry and will help you find a suitable placement. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain skills using the latest technology.
