Entry Requirements
Minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3 or higher
How will I learn?
This is a transitional programme, designed to raise your literacy and numeracy skills. In addition, you will learn to work with a variety of species in our animal centre. Work experience is an important ascpect of this qualification, and a placement should be found before September. We have a range of units that are taught but our core units include:
- Manage Vegitation by Coppicing
- Manage Equipement and Machines
- Practical Hedgerow Managment
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by practical observations and course work.
Any trips?
Land and Wildlife (Countryside Conservation) go on numerous trips - some examples are listed here:.
- Some of these will be to carry out work in the local area that is relevant to the landbased industries - these include working in places like Daneway Banks on woodland management and conservation
- Working on conservation projects with the Wilts and Glos wildlife trusts.
- Carrying out estate skills at the college equine yard.
Are there any costs involved?
You should expect some small costs for stationary and course specific booklets.
You will also be expected to supply your own PPE - a pair of steel toe capped work boots are essential.
