Outdoor, Adventure and Physical Activities Level 2 Award
Are you interested in a practical course that will increase your knowledge, outdoor adventure experience, technical abilities, physical and mental wellbeing? If so, the Outdoor Adventure pathway is the one for you. With a focus on outdoor pursuits, this course would be ideal for those looking to progressing to our Level 3 Entry into the Uniformed Services or Sport courses, outdoor instructing, or careers in the military.
What will I study in Outdoor, Adventure and Physical Activities Level 2 Award?
Unit 1: Participate in Sport
Unit 2: Outdoor Activities
Unit 3: Leading an Outdoor Activity
Unit 12: Anatomy & Physiology
Entry Requirements
At least 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above.
How will I learn?
The course is very active, with three of the four modules requiring practical delivery or practical assessment.
You will learn 'in' the field, with lecturers guiding you to develop your skills and knowledge by actually doing them, from orienteering to kayaking to abseiling.
There are no exams in this course. All modules are assessed by coursework, portfolio, or practical demonstration.

Each module will have different assessments, and we have chosen modules to reflect how you might be assessed at level 3, within the workplace, in the military, and at University.
Practical assessments include: planning and/or taking part an expedition, performance of a sport (which include adventurous activities), leading an outdoor pursuits group activity.
Are there any costs involved?
Course Fees and trips:
There will be a requirement to pay £150 for the academic year for a variety of compulsory course related trips, expeditions and outdoor activities. This fee will also cover the course uniform.
There are many residential and day trips throughout the course such as
- Overnight Mock Marines Entrance test & Job Interview
- 3-day Expedition to the Brecon beacons
Expect to visit local Uniformed Services often such as:
- RAF Brize Norton
- NARU Ambulance training
- Gloucester Fire Service College
- Gloucester and Wiltshire police force. For PSU Riot training and Black rock Firearms centre
- Meet the Marines days
There is also the opportunity for Bespoke work experience and ad hoc extra expense trips:

- Marines Look @ Life
- Cross college Ski Trip
FAQs
The only difference is that students on the sport pathway will be completing the Introduction to Health Exercise and Nutrition Module instead of the Leading and Outdoor Activity Module.
That is not a problem. Our highly trained staff will introduce you to all activities and give you the skills, knowledge, and confidence to take part.
