About the Course

Do you want to know more about how the world around you works? Are you fascinated by how your body keeps you alive and allows you to respond to your environment? With an emphasis on human biology, the IGCSE Biology course will help you find answers to your questions as well as learning about a host of other varied topics including genetics, conservation, disease, reproduction and how incredibly important plants are to human life. Have you ever wondered about how the eye works or about what the food you eat actually contains? You will develop your understanding of some of the key principles of biology through a mix of theoretical and practical studies including dissection and chemical tests. This course is essential for you if you want to pursue a career which involves biology. IGCSE Biology is a rigorous course which will help make sure you are well prepared for further study as well as enhancing your understanding of the living world.

Assessment takes place at the end of the course and involves 3 exams. One multiple choice, one theory and one practical exam.

The grades awarded at Cambridge IGCSE are A*–G, with A* being the highest.

The study of Biology at GCSE level can lead on to further study at AS or A-level Biology. It could also lead to the study of other science-related A levels or more vocationally-related courses.

Enrolment on to this course is by way of individual assessment.

We will look at real organs, such as heart and eyes but there are always videos or models for those who do not wish to do this.

Most topics involve some laboratory practical work to back up ideas. We make full use of our laboratory facilities with a variety of practical activities
