Crochet for Beginners

What topics are covered?

Holding your hook and yarn

Single crochet

Double crochet

The magic ring

After getting used to holding the hook and yarn to get a consistent tension, we will move on to a number of small projects including how to crochet flowers, granny squares, and – best of all – an introduction to amigurumi (that’s Japanese for a small, knitted, stuffed toy).

By the end of the course we will have collaboratively crocheted a blanket, and all have our own personalised projects to take home and cherish.

How will I learn?

You will learn as part of a small group – with practical demonstrations during the session and with handouts to take home to remind you of the skills you are honing.

Are there any additional costs?

No additional costs as yarn and crochet hooks will be provided by the college.

What do I need to bring?

We will provide you with yarn and hooks to get started, but if you want to use your own materials, we will be starting with:

size 4.00mm crochet hook

cotton yarn DK weight
