Esports is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK with colossal sector dominance that outperforms mainstream sports and even Hollywood blockbusters. What fuels this entertainment sector giant? This is broadcast and arena entertainment, entrepreneurialism, media business and creative production – all careers way beyond the wiggling of thumbs! According to reports, 48% of the executive force behind this incredible market in digital industries are women, and Esports is heading to capture over 50% of the entertainment sector.

What will I study in Esports Extended Certificate ?

In our course at Cirencester you’ll study serious enterprise and entertainment management skills, you learn all about the industry from demographics and genres to team building and strategy. You’ll even have a dedicated health and fitness programme to boost your performance. Oh, and it helps if you like gaming too.

This course is not designed to make you a better gamer (though we will take part in national tournaments), but it is designed for those who want to take their engagement with the Esports world to another level. Are you the next event organising supremo, performance management coach or star team strategist?

Entry Requirements

At least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, three from the basket subjects and to include a Grade 5 in GCSE Maths and English Language.

How will I learn?

Your eSports lessons will take place in a specialised room, filled with high-spec Gaming PCs. Over the two years of the course, you will look at a variety of ways to improve how you play: by understanding the different genres and types of games, by investigating your own strengths and weaknesses, and by analysing how professional teams and individual gamers play.

You will also spend time looking at the eSports industry as a whole, before then focusing on the different business aspects as well as how to maintain health and nutrition, gaining a professional edge over other players.

How will I be assessed?

There will be 4 units, with each of these having two assignment briefs to be completed during lessons.

There are no end of unit exams.

Are there any costs involved?

Students will be required to purchase their own headset; so as to be able to chat in-game and hear the lessons and streams.

Although gaming keyboards and mice will be provided, students are welcome to purchase and use their own.

Students may also choose to purchase a gamepad.

There may also be costs for trips, competitions, or classroom resources (e.g., booklets)
