The Foundation Year helps you develop a broad range of knowledge, skills, and behaviours to prepare you for success in your chosen T-level route. In addition to honing key skills, you'll be introduced to the world of business and gain practical work experience, providing a deeper understanding of business operations. Learning is centred around completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace scenarios, activities, and demands. This course is designed for learners who would benefit from extra study time and preparation, maximising your chances of progressing to your chosen T-level and completing it successfully.

What will I study in Business Level 2 Certificate?

The T Levels Foundation Business programme aims to provide students with an introduction to the world of business, examining concepts and ideas which will help students to gain an insight into how and why businesses operate. Students will work using ICT software to write reports and organise presentations. There is a strong emphasis on learning sound research skills and using a range of sources to present their work. Planning and meeting deadlines are vital. Students will gain relevant knowledge, practical and study skills, work experience and support tailored to their chosen T Level subject area.  Students will also be required to engage and complete 105 hours of work experience.

Entry Requirements

Mainly GCSE passes at Grade 3 or higher, including English and Maths.

How will I learn?

You will learn through a range of different teaching and learning methods, including standard lessons, practical work, individual and group based learning.  Each unit requires you to produce a range of evidence that includes written reports, presentations and videos. We also incorporate guest speakers and trips to ensure students get a wide variety of learning environments.

You will be timetabled for one day a week of work experience.

Any trips?

Throughout the year, we aim to ensure students are given opportunities to hear from businesses through guest speakers and trips, so that they can experience how they would use the skills/knowledge they have learnt, in the real world.

Yes – There is one exam towards the end of the year.


Should I have studied business at GCSE?

No previous business studies experience is necessary


Where will I go on my work experience?

We encourage students to find their own work experience placement, but we will support you and offer suggestions
