Finally every July we do a London residential where we see 4 shows in 2 days and stay over night near Kings Cross - why not check out our Intstagram and look at where we have been this year? @Ciren.PA

FAQs

Should I have done GCSE Drama to be able to do BTEC Performing Arts?

It helps, as it shows that you have an interest in the subject, but it is not compulsory. If you can evidence passion, experience, knowledge and skill in the subject, you have met the most important requirements for the course.

Is there an audition for the course?

There isn’t, but there are a range of practical initial assessment tasks, as well as written tasks. The practical initial assessment task takes place in the first week of the course, and they include performing two monologues, one solo song and doing a group dance workshop.

How much writing is there on the course?

There is quite a lot! Except for one entirely written unit, every unit is assessed through practical work, with workshops, rehearsals and performances as the central part of the assessment. However, all of those practical units have written work, which is linked to the practical work you are developing.

Are there many performances to the public as part of the course?

Yes, lots! Most unit performance assessments are done in college hours to other Performing Arts students and the lecturers, but there are multiple performance showcases throughout the year, in which students can audition independent performances, as well including good quality performance work from their assessments. There is also a performance toured at the end of Year 1, and a large scale final performance of a musical at the end of Year 2.
