Make Do & Mend

Do you have clothes which require some restoration and you don’t want to have to pay out more expenditure on new items? this four week course could be for you.

Learn how to hand sew so that you can beautifully repair, darn or patch your favourite clothes, sew buttons back on, invisibly mend seams and make adjustments to trousers so items fit you and last longer.

This is a funded course, so free to participants that:

  • Have lived in the UK or EU for at least 3 years
  • Are aged 19 and over
  • Are earning less than £18,525

What topics are covered?

Within this course you will learn the following:

  • How to hand sew to repair clothes using different stitches and techniques such as invisible.
  • Mending, patching, hemming, visible patching,
  • Adjusting / altering clothes that require amendment or no longer fit.

How will I learn?

Participants will learn through demonstration and then attempting themselves.

What do I need to bring?

Participants will be required to bring along any items which they would like to mend or alter. Essential sewing kits will be provided.
