Pre GCSE Maths & English

Our Pre GCSE course is a short course between Easter and the summer that prepares students for the GCSE class in September. It is perfect for students who haven’t been in education for a while as it helps build up your confidence and gets you used to being in the classroom again before the GCSE course. It also gives you a chance to brush up on some of those bits you have forgotten since school. Our tutors are supportive, and friendly and can help you reach your goals.

If you want to do your GCSE in September then we strongly advise signing up for our Pre GCSE this Easter. Students who have done the Pre GCSE in the past have excelled in their GCSE class.

Pre GCSE Maths

This course will help develop your maths skills and the ability to solve problems and give you the ability to use and apply Maths with confidence and enjoyment.

Start date April 2024 at Cirencester College 6pm-8pm (ends early July)

Pre GCSE English

This course will develop your oral communication, language, reading and creative writing skills.
In this course you study a variety of texts, the development of writing skills (including punctuation and spelling) and involvement in speaking and listening activities.

Progression

This course is the perfect way to improve your Maths and English skills and if you chose is also the perfect step to improve your confidence and prepare you so you can progress smoothly onto the full GCSE courses in Maths and English starting in September 2024. Students who take the Pre GCSE before the GCSE do significantly better in their exams at the end.

Is this course free?

These courses are free to students who:

are age 19+
have lived in the UK/EU for 3+ years
don’t already have a grade C/4 in GCSE Maths and/or English

How do I sign up?

You will need to do an assessment before joining the course. Please email adult.education@cirencester.ac.uk with your full name, date of birth and whether you are interested in English and / or maths Pre GCSE. If you have any questions let us know.

You will then be sent details of the course and the assessment for you to complete.

Once completed we can get you enrolled on a course and prepared to start in April.
