Upgrade is a study programme designed to give students the confidence and grades at GCSE level to be able to progress to their chosen pathways whether here at Cirencester or at another college, undertake an apprenticeship or get a job with training.
What will I study in Upgrade Study Programme?
Upgrade Study Programme is made up of elements
1. Foundation Project Qualifcation - this qualifcation allows you to plan, produce and review a project of your own choice, backed up by a range of in house projects that prepare you ready for the next stages.
2. Maths GCSE Retake.
3. English GCSE Retake.
4. Employability and practical projects designed to allow the studnets to explore their skills and gain new ones.
4. Internal and external work experience.
Entry Requirements
3+ GCSEs at Grade 2, including English Language and Maths
Places will be offered following a satisfactory interview. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to a particular vocational pathway.
How will I learn?
Students will learn through a variety of practical and written assessments.
The GCSE's will have assessment throughout with exams at the end of the academic year.
The employability and projects will have coursework involved. Studnets will be encouraged to use their skills and produce their work through different mediums. These could include written methods such as powerpoints. posters but also other methods such as more hands on forms of assessment.
How will I be assessed?
The GCSE's will have exams at the end of the academic year.
Coursework and assessments will be given out as well as homework.
Are there any costs involved?
There may be trips that the studnets will be encouraged to take part in but these will be by choice.
There will be a small cost to cover a polo shirt for the students to wear during work experience and when they represent the college on trips.
