The T Level Foundation Year in Business is your chance to build the confidence, skills, and experience that you will need to progress onto your chosen T Level in your second year and succeed both in college and in the world of work.
You’ll develop valuable knowledge and practical skills through engaging business case studies and realistic workplace scenarios, giving you a real insight into how businesses operate and make decisions in the modern world. Along the way, you’ll gain industry insight, boost your employability, and complete meaningful work experience that will help you stand out.
Designed to give you extra support and preparation before starting your T Level, this programme helps you strengthen your skills, grow your confidence, and maximise your chances of progressing successfully onto your chosen pathway — and achieving your future career goals.
What will I study in T-level Foundation Year in Business?
The T Levels Foundation Business programme, aims to provide students with an introduction to the world of business, examining concepts and ideas which will help students to gain an insight into how and why businesses operate. Students will work using ICT software to write reports and organise presentations. There is a strong emphasis on learning sound research skills and using a range of sources to present their work. Planning and meeting deadlines are vital. Students will gain relevant knowledge, practical and study skills, work experience and support tailored to their chosen T Level subject area. Students will also be required to engage and complete 105 hours of work experience - We encourage students to start thinking early about potential contacts and organisations where they could undertake work experience..

Entry Requirements
Mainly GCSE passes at Grade 3 or higher, including English and Maths.
How will I learn?
You will learn through a range of different teaching and learning methods, including standard lessons, practical work, individual and group based learning. Each unit requires you to produce a range of evidence that includes written reports, presentations and videos. We also incorporate guest speakers and trips to ensure students get a wide variety of learning environments.
You will be timetabled for one day a week of work experience.

Any trips?
Throughout the year, we aim to ensure students are given opportunities to hear from businesses through guest speakers and trips, so that they can experience how they would use the skills/knowledge they have learnt, in the real world.

- Cadbury World
- Thorpe Park
Are there any costs involved?
Additional costs include:
- Optional educational trips, which are not compulsory.
- Students are expected to provide their own folders and standard stationery for class note-taking and the organisation of coursework.
- Students are also required to bring their own device to college with access to Microsoft Word; all students have free access to Microsoft Office.

Completing the Foundation Year opens up a wide range of progression opportunities. With a grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths, students can progress on to most T Levels, helping them move confidently towards their chosen career pathway. Some T Levels have higher entry requirements in English and/or Maths, so we recommend checking the individual course on the college website for full details.
