Events are big business and part of our everyday lives. The UK’s event industry is estimated to be worth £70 billion in direct spend, accounting for over 50% of the UK visitor economy. Events lead to the employment of over 700,000 people from apprenticeship level upwards. Event Planning can help you learn about this dynamic industry and understand what it takes to put on a successful event. During the year you will learn skills that are transferable to other industries such as planning, organisation, customer service and communication.
What will I study in Event Planning Level 2 Certificate?
Event planning is made up of 5 units:
- Planning an Event (Y/602/2454)
- Event Review and Evaluation (R/602/2419 )
- Market Research and Marketing Methods in Event Planning (J/602/2353 )
- Human Resource Planning At Events (L/602/2354)
- Communication and Customer Service At Events (Y/602/2356 )
Units are studied in order. During Unit 1 students will have a chance to plan and run their own event.
Entry Requirements
This course is aimed at Level 3 students to sit alongside an A-Level or vocational programme. Entry requirements are grade 4 in English and at least one other core subject.
How will I learn?
The course consists of written assessments, practical work when running the event. Students will work in groups when planning and running their own event.
How will I be assessed?
Event Planning is assed by units of work. Each unit has written work that the learner is required to complete. This can be by a written assignment, worksheet or powerpoint.
Any trips?
If possible a trip will be organised so that students can understand an event and what is required to make it a success.
Are there any costs involved?
There is no specific costs. There will be a small cost involved if a trip was taken.

No experience is necessary. The course is designed so that you learn all about what an event is, right through to how to plan and run an event.
The course is 1 year in duration and you will study once a week.
