Who can join adult courses

Adult courses are for anyone aged 19 or over, covering academic, professional, technical, leisure and community learning opportunities.

What types of adult courses do you offer?

We offer three main types of adult learning:

a) Adult Education (Academic & Professional)

Courses include:

  • English (up to GCSE)
  • Maths (up to GCSE)
  • ESOL
  • Technical & professional qualifications, e.g. Teaching Assistant awards
  • Diploma in Education and Training

b) Adult Leisure Courses

Designed for fun, creativity and wellbeing.
Examples:

  • Arts & crafts (jewellery, mosaics, watercolour)
  • Languages & humanities
  • Music
  • Sewing (beginners to advanced)
  • Yoga

c) Tailored Learning / Community Courses

Supporting confidence, wellbeing, and essential skills
Examples:

  • Cooking Confidence
  • Grow your own
  • Digital skills
  • Preparing for employment and confidence building

Are the courses funded or do I have to pay?

Some adult education courses (such as English, Maths and certain professional pathways) are fully or partially funded, depending on your personal circumstances, prior qualifications and the course level. Leisure courses typically require payment.

When do adult courses run?

Many adult education and leisure courses run as evening classes, making them accessible for those with work responsibilities.

Some courses have daytime options too. And most of our tailored learning courses run during the day.

Most courses are held at:
Cirencester College, Stroud Road, GL7 1XA
or across the roundabout at:
UBC offices Cirencester, Cirencester Office Pk, Tetbury Rd, Cirencester GL7 6JJ
However, some of our Community programmes may run in other local venues.

How do I apply or enrol?

For Leisure courses, learners can browse courses online and purchase the course directly through the course page. You can contact the Adult Education team if you need help.
For Academic & Professional courses, learners should email the Adult Education team or fill in the online form on the course pages.

Do you offer beginner‑friendly courses?

Yes nearly all of our courses are suitable for beginners. The only exceptions are follow on courses such as some of our languages or guitar sessions

Are your courses accessible for people returning to learning after a long break?

Yes. Tailored learning and beginner courses are specifically designed to support adults who are rebuilding confidence, developing new skills or exploring learning after many years away.

We also offer maths and English summer taster sessions as a stepping stone to the GCSE classes. -enquire through our english and maths pages.
