IT is used in every organisation and is an essential part of day to day life. There are so many different sectors of IT to work in from cyber security to games development. A qualification in IT at Level 2 is an excellent foundation to progress to a Digital T-level or apprenticeship in the IT industry.
What will I study in ICT: Digital Transition Level 2 Certificate?
The IT Level 2 certificate provides learners with an introduction into a range of IT skills. Learners will have the opportunity to build a computer system in our IT hardware lab, Install and upgrade software, create a computer network or website and produce their own computer game. This courses gives learners a change to develop their practical IT skills whilst also learning the latest IT theory and industry trends.
Learners will gain knowledge on the essentials of IT and develop their Cyber Security skills together with understanding how social media is used in business and how data is used.
Expected progression routes from this course are to a Level 3 course, Digital T-level, employment or to an apprenticeship.
Entry Requirements
At least 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above
How will I learn?
The course is made up of a number of units which are all assessed via exam and course work.
The Essentials of IT - This unit is the foundation for this qualification and it is designed to give students the underpinning synoptic knowledge that will prepare them to study this suite of qualifications.
Essentials of Cyber Secuity - This unit has been designed to enable students to gain knowledge and understanding of some of the threats and vulnerabilities that can have an impact on individuals and organisations.
Using Social Media Channels for Business - The use of social media has become so extensive in business that customers expect companies of all sizes to have a social media presence. Companies are required to create and manage regular social media content and interact appropriately. This unit will give learners an opptunity to understand how social media is used in an organisation.
Using Data Analysis Software - This unit will enable learners to understand the difference between data and information and the quality of the data, which data needs to be analysed for a given business need and how to carry out the analysis and present the findings and recommend the use of their analysis model for future analyses and decision making.
How will I be assessed?
This course is assessed with course work for each unit
Any trips?
Learners will attend trips to see where organisations use the latest IT technology in industry
Are there any costs involved?
There are no additional costs however access to a computer or laptop at home would be useful.
