Sport and Physical Activity Level 3 Diploma

The Sport and Physical Activity course has a wide ranging set of modules that allow students to explore how to teach, and the coaching styles needed for a variety of sporting and physical activity settings; from elite level sport to educating primary school children. We explore public policy alongside the psychology and physiology of engaging and developing this vast range of abilities. You will plan, deliver and execute a range of coaching and activity sessions to further develop your skills. It is suited to those looking at a career in sports development teaching, or facilitating sports and physical activity participation.

What will I study in Sport and Physical Activity Level 3 Diploma?

The new and exciting theoretical aspects of the course are studied and learnt in a practical manner, including designing and partaking in your own training regime, designing and making the main parts of a nutritionally balanced meal, and delivering coaching sessions to primary school children.

Four of the units that are studied over the two years will be externally assessed

  • Sports Psychology

Entry Requirements

At least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including 3 from the basket subjects.

How will I learn?

Students will learn through a mixture of theoretical and practical lessons. Emphasis is placed on students being able to work effectively as part of a group as well as comfortable working as an individual.

Some assignments will be assessed through verbal and visual presentations.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be in the form of four written examinations over the two years with the remainder of the assignments being internally assessed and externally moderated.

Internal assessment will take the format of written reports, practical demonstrations and verbal and visual presentations.

Any trips?

Yes, 2 University trips and a fun end of year trip.

Are there any costs involved?

There is a course cost of £70, this is for a folder, file dividers, course handbook, unit booklets and a textbook. The young person will receive this as a pack at the start of the year and the textbook will be used in all lessons. This fee is also the entry for our sports presentation evening and 3 trips to a University to undertake in depth Sport Science testing and lectures and 1 fun end of year trip. Students are asked to buy the kit separately more information will be available via email.
