Uniformed Protective Services National Certificate
Uniformed Protective Services at Cirencester College provides the ultimate preparation for a career in the Police service, including progression into careers in law, the prison service, and voluntary or private security sector. This course is steered towards those interested in a career in the police, legal services, or has an interest in Criminology.
What will I study in Uniformed Protective Services National Certificate?
The course is designed for you to be able to demonstrate and develop the skills and knowledge that will prepare you for the demands of a career in the uniformed protective services sector.
There is a diverse range of units designed to develop research skills, knowledge, communication, team work and collaboration:
• Unit 2: Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services
• Unit 5: Teamwork, Leadership and Communication in the Uniformed Protective Services
• Unit 13: Introduction to Criminology
• Unit 15: Police Powers
Entry Requirements
5+ GCSEs at Grade 4 or above,from the core subjects, including English Language and Maths.
How will I learn?
Students will learn through a mixture of theory and practical lessons. All students will be expected to demonstrate good time management and self-discipline whilst studying as these are key skills required for the protective services. Communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills will be developed over the two years.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be in the form of one written examinations over the two years with the remainder of the assignments being internally assessed and externally moderated.
Internal assessment will take the format of written reports, practical demonstrations and verbal and visual presentations.
Any trips?
There are a range of residential and day trips across the two years.
Are there any costs involved?
You should expect some small costs for booklets and there will be some additional costs for trips.
