What is a V-Level? (Vocational)

New for 2027, V-levels are career-focused qualifications that are equivalent in size to one A-level. They allow you to explore a broad career area while developing the knowledge and skills needed for your future.

You can study V-levels and combine them with A-levels or other vocational qualifications as part of a mixed programme. They can lead to university, apprenticeships or employment.

What does V Levels mean for me?

Each V Level will be equivalent to one A Level. This means you can study V Levels alongside A Levels.

They offer a practical route to developing career-ready skills and progressing to employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

What V Level subjects can I study?

The first V Levels that have been announced by the government will be introduced in September 2027, covering:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Digital Systems and Data
  • Education and Early Years
