ESOL

If English is not your first language you can improve your English language skills with an ESOL course.

Our ESOL programmes are offered to students whose first language is not English and who are living in the UK on a permanent basis.

Improve your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills. This course will help you to develop your understanding of the English language and make it easier to manage everyday situations.

We have many classes at different levels. We will assess you before you start the course so that we know you are in the right class.

ESOL Beginners

This course is for those who speak very little English and need to start from the beginning. You will have the chance to work towards an Edexcel Skills for Life ESOL Qualification at Entry Level 1.

ESOL Entry Level

This course is for those who would like to improve their overall confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will have the chance to work towards an Edexcel Skills for Life ESOL Qualification at at a level appropriate for your ability.

ESOL Level 1& 2

This course is for those who have some English language skills, who are able to hold a conversation and to write and understand written English. You will improve your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will work towards an Edexcel Skills for Life ESOL qualification at a level appropriate for your ability.

Course Cost

ESOL courses are split into 3 parts and 3 exams.

In many cases courses fees are reduced or even free, please note this depends on your circumstances

Summer School

Course will be running Monday to Friday from 17th July to 28th July 2023

Morning course 9.30am-12.00pm

This two-week intensive course is for those wanting to improve their English Language skills. Focusing on speaking and listening and learning
about the British culture, our local area and the UK. Perfect for those wanting a boost over the summer, or an introduction to studying ESOL at
our College.
You will undertake activities to improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whilst developing your knowledge of Britain and its
cultures and customs.
The course will cover:

• British Food • Superstitions • Places of interest • Funny sayings • The Royal family • Living in the Countryside

You will receive a College Certificate: ‘British Culture and Conversation’. There are no formal entry requirements. However, you will need to be
able to read and write at a very basic level, to get a place on the course. Unfortunately, we cannot cater for Pre-Entry level learners on this course. In many cases courses fees are free. Please note this depends on your circumstances.
