Congratulations to the A-level Biology and Chemistry students who, once again, have done themselves and the College proud in the Biology and Chemistry Olympiad competitions.

The Olympiad is an annual problem-solving competition designed to challenge and stimulate students with an interest in Biology and Chemistry to expand and extend their talents. They are introduced to topics and ideas they are not familiar with, and assigned a series of tasks to complete.

“We had 29 Biology students take part this year”, said Dave Bell, Course Team Leader for Biology, “The Biology Olympiad is a very challenging competition and the certificates are recognised nationally. We had five students achieve a Bronze award, five achieved a Silver, and one student achieved a Gold. Overall I am extremely proud of all our students who took part!”

Keira Clarke, Course Team Leader for Chemistry, said “For Chemistry we had 34 students take part, and we are proud to say that two of our students achieved a Gold, eight achieved Silver and eleven achieved Bronze. Many of the participants were ambitious first years, including one of our silvers and a number of the bronzes, so we’re excited to see what they can achieve next year too!”

Well done to all involved, what a fantastic achievement.
