Recently, the Sports Department facilitated their very own Careers Fair, for all sports students across the department, to find out more about career and study opportunities available to them in the sports industry.

Sixteen external organisations supported this event, and over 200 students studying Sport and Physical Activity and Sport and Exercise Science made the most of the opportunity to talk to a range of industry professionals and universities.

Ross Langworthy, Course Team Leader for Sport and Physical Activity, said “It was great to welcome so many organisations to the college to speak with our students. This event gave our students the opportunity to find out about future careers, higher education courses, industry qualifications, work experience opportunities, and part-time jobs that fit around their studies.

“These conversations with industry professionals enabled the students to link the content covered in the classroom to real world careers, as well as allowing Sport staff to gain valuable input from industry as we continue to shape and mould our curriculum. A huge thank you to our visiting organisations for giving up their time to engage with our learners. We’ve had some terrific feedback, and many students left the event feeling motivated and informed on their career paths and ambitions.”

One student said, “This was a very useful careers event that really helped me decide what I want to do after leaving college.”

Another commented “The careers event was a great opportunity to reach a wide variety of professions and roles that I wasn’t aware of before. This was also a great opportunity to discover some possible work experience opportunities linked to my course.”
