Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges

This qualification is an introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. It will predominantly focus on support staff roles working directly with children and young people in the learning environment

The dates and times for the Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges are as follows:

Day(s)  – Tuesday  Time: 09.30am – 14.00pm – Start Date: Tuesday 05th November 2024 – Finish Date: Tuesday 8th April 2025

Who is the level 2 course for?

This qualification is aimed at those who are thinking of working in a school or college setting.

What topics are covered?

The mandatory units for this qualification are as follows:

  • Understand Schools and Colleges as organisations.
  • Understand Children and Young People’s Development.
  • Understand Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults
  • Understand Children and Young People’s Health and Safety
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Work with Children and Young People

Assessment

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments, tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board.

 

Eligibility and Cost

To enrol onto this course learners must be aged over 19 from the 31/08/24. Required to have been a UK/EU citizen for at least 3 years.

This course is fully funded if you meet the above eligibility criteria and are:

  • Employed and earning an annual salary of less than £25,000
  • Unemployed and in receipt of state benefit.

Students should already possess or be willing to work towards a level 2 qualification in both Maths and English. This is due to jobs in this industry requiring this to be considered for perspective roles.
