Songwriting course in Cirencester for adults – learn how to write your own songs by exploring melody, lyrics, chords and rhythm in a relaxed, creative class.

Songwriting isn’t a mystery – it’s a skill anyone can learn. John Lennon said you have to write 1000 bad songs before you write a good one, but he’s wrong (probably). These classes will not guarantee you’ll write ‘Imagine’ or a hit song, but they ARE going to teach you how to write a song, at least one. Music has three elements: harmony (chords), melody (what you sing) and rhythm (how you play and sing it), and we’ll explore those necessary elements as well as tactics of lyric writing, rhyme, storytelling and form. You don’t need any experience in songwriting (but some guitar would be helpful), just the desire to write a song, or turn old poems into a song, because that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
