Students from Cirencester College have a lot to celebrate today after achieving fantastic A-level, T-level and vocational results.

After two years of disrupted education through COVID, Cirencester College students scored top marks across the board in all subjects including 174 A-level A star grades, and nearly 90% of students gained their first choice at University.

Congratulations to: Tanwen Bird, formerly of Cirencester Deer Park School, who achieved A*s in A-level Biology and Chemistry and an A in Maths and is heading to the University of Birmingham to study Medicine.

Jonnie Gibson, formerly of Cirencester Kingshill School is also off to study medicine at the University of Birmingham after achieving A*s in A-level Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

Top students from vocational courses include Emily Edward, formerly of Cirencester Kingshill School, who achieved a triple distinction in Equine Management and is taking a gap year before going to University to study Equine Science.

Holly Catterall, formerly of Cirencester Deer Park School, achieved double distinction star in Animal Management and a B in A-level Biology and is heading to Hartpury University to study Veterinary Nursing.

This year marks the first results day for T-level students across the country, and Cirencester College are celebrating a 100% pass rate among its first cohort of T-level students; with every student who applied to university securing their place.

Archie Curtis is one of the many T-level success stories after achieving a distinction star in T-level Construction. Archie has recently started a higher apprenticeship for local building company E G Carters, whilst studying for a HNC at Gloucester.

College Principal Jim Grant said, “I’m delighted with these results across the board.  From Maths to Performing Arts, all our courses have done really well. Results are ahead of where we were in 2019 and in many cases, better than Teacher Assessed Grades of the last two years. A-levels are particularly strong with many subjects getting their best ever results.  In several cases lecturers have really gone the extra mile to gain outstanding results.

All this is a great testimony to the students themselves for whom, this was their first experience of exams and who were determined to show what they could do. It also reflects well on teachers, tutors, support teams and parents who have supported our students positively through the difficult Covid period of on-line learning.  My thanks also have to go to all our associated employers who enabled all our T-level students to complete their placements. This particular group of students were pioneers in these new technical qualifications. All passed and all have the grades to go onto their chosen university or careers.”
