Well done to the Year 1 Sport and Physical Activity students involved in the delivery of successful sport festivals for local primary school children.
96 Year 4 children, who typically take part in less physical activity than their peers, visited the College across two mornings, and our students were tasked with designing activity stations that allowed them to enjoy moving in new ways, rather than through the more mainstream sports.
The students came up with fantastic activities and delivered these with enthusiasm and energy.
Ross Langworthy, Course Team Leader, said “The most pleasing thing was hearing so many of the visiting teachers and children commenting that they could copy these new activities at school, both on the playground and in PE lessons, showing the thought that had gone into the stations and the engaging ways in which they were delivered. It was fantastic to be able to stand back and watch our young leaders providing such a positive experience of activity and inspire ideas for continued participation beyond their morning of visiting our college.”
Evie said “I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this event. I organised and ran a version of noughts and crosses, and it was great to see so many girls interested and excited about our activity. I am so glad that I have helped to encourage more girls to take part in sport!”
Well done to all involved.
