Congratulations to Year 2 A-level Accounting students Archie and Max, who have been offered apprenticeships at Monahans Chartered Accountants for after they have finished their A-level exams.

Archie said “I applied for the apprenticeship because I prefer the hands-on style of learning and I felt that it was a faster route to gain experience and get to a high level in the industry. I also really like numbers and data and I have wanted to pursue an accounting career since I was in Year 10.

I was so glad to find out I had been offered the position, I didn’t think I would get it as it was such a competitive process. I have enjoyed my time at Cirencester College, I like the personal approach of teachers compared to what it was like at school and the college facilities have really helped boost my understanding of the subject.”

Max said “A lot of my friends and family are in the accounting industry, and we had a guest speaker come in to one of our lessons from the bank of England and this inspired me to take the apprenticeship route instead of university because he highlighted the amount of industry experience you get. It feels good to have been offered the position. My teacher Penny has been great, I have enjoyed the fun and relaxed approach to learning that you wouldn’t get at secondary school.”

Accounting lecturer, Penny Spice, said “Archie and Max have been keen and motivated students throughout the course, and have known for a while that this is a career they could excel at. They are both aspiring to become chartered accountants and this will be an excellent start to their career”
